Turning Red

On this episode we chat about the new Disney/Pixar film Turning Red, directed by Domee Shi, about a Chinese-Canadian teen who discovers that a family curse causes her to turn into a giant red panda whenever she gets emotional. We chat about the film's themes of puberty (and periods), the culturally-specific nuances of Chinese diaspora culture, and tackle some of the backlash that the film has been getting.
